It’s the first New Moon of Spring. The New Moon is typically a time to set intention for the upcoming Moon phase cycle. Combine the New Moon possibilities with a brand new season, not to mention one that coincides with new beginnings, rebirth, and rejuvenation, and you have a powerful time to set some intentions.
The Spring Equinox happened yesterday, March 20th at 5:24pm.
Persephone made her ascent from the Underworld, where she resides for half the year. Her mother, Demeter, awaited her with open arms. No longer mourning her daughter’s time with Hades, Demeter, goddess of the harvest, sees to it that the earth becomes abundant once again. We move out of the time of death, dormancy, and stillness and into a time of life, bounty, and reprieve. Our days grow longer, and the Sun shines brilliantly upon us connecting its golden rays to the rays that shine out of heart. Like the warmth of a mother’s arms we can feel ourselves wrapped in the warmth of the Sun.
She comes up from under, the light hitting her face one step at a time.
She emerges, skulls trailing behind her, and she is greeted by the living.
Her hand reaches for the hand of her mother, a golden ray beaming between them.
Like magnets, they are pulled in.
They share the long embrace of mother and daughter separated for seasons.
Their time is short, so they waste none.
Her hand in hers, they walk on through the mists and growth.
They have much to catch up on.
I hope this season brings you all you need, and nothing less.
Love,
Cary
