Stones are one thing that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, I resonate most within the metaphysical world. They drew me in when I was a teenager back in the ‘90’s, or shall I say….the late 1900’s??? They called to me aesthetically, and energetically. I used them in pouches where they hung from my neck in pools of Fairy dust, in jewelry, and as home décor. My knowledge of their properties at that time was minimal. I didn’t know anything much aside from what I felt from them. I felt connected. I knew they had stories to tell. I knew they would be strong allies, and they felt like armor.
Over the last 5 years, I’ve focused a lot of my time and energy into understanding crystals, rocks, and minerals. My relationship to them has strengthened, and I am in awe of how much I still have to learn. New formations occur daily, and there is so much under the earth that is yet to be discovered. Mother Nature truly is an artist whose variety of mediums are breathtaking.
Crystal Spotlight
I decided that doing a spotlight on a particular crystal, mineral, or rock monthly made good sense. This spotlight will include some metaphysical properties, as well as some of my own thoughts and feelings. This month I will shine the spotlight on Quartz. Quarts it the most abundant crystal in the world, and in my opinion, one of the most important. Quartz is composed of silicon dioxide, and there are so very many varieties of Quartz across the world!! Some stones that you may be familiar with such as Amethyst, Citrine, Chrysoprase, and Jasper are all varieties of Quartz.
Metaphysical Properties:
Quartz is known for its ability to amplify the energies around it, and for its ability to be programmed to act as any other stone. It is great for focus, and mental clarity, as well as giving one the feeling of being uplifted. It has been used as memory chips, and in watches, as well as throughout technology. Quartz is useful for balancing all Chakras, but has the most powerful resonation to the Crown Chakra. This excerpt taken from Crystal Vaults (crystalvaults.com) reads, “Quartz is the crystal connection to the infinite octaves of light. Quartz encompasses the Universal Life Force manifested in light. It is the pure White Light of creation manifested in crystalline perfection. It is the higher state of Light, a looking glass of the soul, and the reflection of the light beings blessings on mankind.”
Quartz, to me, is the epitome of crystal energy. When I think of gazing into a crystal ball, I see Quartz. When I think of draping myself in light energy, I envision a wand with a tip made of Quartz drawing a circle over my body. If I could take only one crystal with me anywhere I go, I would take Quartz. Its ally ship has been most profound for me, and I feel better when it agrees to be in my presence. Quartz helps keep me connected to Mother Earth, the Goddess it is associated with. I choose to use Quartz in so many pieces of my artwork because of her all-encompassing good nature, her ability to get along with all those she meets, and her sheer beauty. She is the star of the show wherever she is, her prism will pull you in, if it hasn’t already.
